Summer Vacation in Whistler | NJ Travel Photographer

Oh how I love summer! The longer, slower, sunnier days. Outdoor eating, summer soirees, swim playdates and vacations. We always start summer with a bang and an annual family trip. This year we traveled to Canada and visited Whistler and Vancouver.

So much natural beauty in this area! I fell in love with the mountains and water views instantly. There were vistas that just too our breath away. Even the air felt cleaner and crisper. It's the kind of place that makes you want to hike, bike and even camp outdoors (and I am not a very outdoorsy girl!).

Whistler is known as a winter ski destination. But it was so green and lush in the summer and we lucked out with warmer temps then normal. Here are some of my captures from our Whistler adventure. Vancouver photos will be coming up in a separate blog post.

Our favorite things to do in Whistler were gondola rides! There is nothing like climbing to the peaks of the mountain with aerial views. Those afraid of heights - beware but a definite must - do for everyone else. Check out Peak to Peak in Whistler and Sea to Sky in Squamish. At Sea to Sky, you must walk above the trees on the Sky Pilot Suspension Bridge. Now that is an adventure!

We stayed at the Whistler Fairmont which was a charming, castle like property. There was so much to do within walking distance from biking around the lake, nature hikes for all skill levels, kid bungy jumping at an adventure park and window shopping around Whistler Village.

Food was fresh, flavorful and delicious. Lunch at Portabello and dinner at Araxi were family favorites. Whistler was a great family destination and full of adventure. Our boys enjoyed every moment.

Stayed tuned for my post about Vancouver. If you want to join me on my daily photo adventures, find me on Instagram
