It's a new week! Let's forget the Monday blues and kickstart this week right. Here are three things I do every Monday and even everyday to keep myself productive and on track.
1. Brain Dump. Get it out of your head and on to paper. Pull out your journal and just write everything out. Don't think too much and definitely don't stress. Include the big things like goals and projects and even the little things like emails and to-dos. The point is to see everything that is going on in your life, both business and personal, and write it on one piece of paper. This process really helps clear your mind and prioritize what needs to get done.
2. Pick Three. Now that you have your list, it's time to set your intention and goals for the day. Pick three things you feel you can accomplish in the next 24 hours. I find three is a doable and fair number. Two is too little and five is too lofty. But three works for me. Circle them or re-write them. Then outline the things you need to do to finish these tasks. Now your day has some direction!
3. Unplug. To get stuff done, you have to get to work. Yes, there are so many distractions from Facebook to Instagram to our kids to the dishes in the sink. My tip for productivity - set a timer. Give yourself 20 minutes of strict work time. Unplug from social media distractions. Don't answer the phone. Focus on the task at hand for those 2o minutes. You will be surprised at how much you can get done. And it feels so good!
Pretty simple stuff but life's craziness sometimes gets in the way. Don't beat yourself up if you only accomplished one of your three goals. There is always tomorrow!
