MikiFoto and New Jersey Family | NJ Brand Photographer

This month, I was honored to be featured in an article in New Jersey Family magazine all about Mom Bosses. (Thank you, New Jersey Family!)

It’s never easy to build a business while raising a family, so I was happy to share my experiences with others who are in the same boat (and with those who might be considering jumping into the boat)!

Along with four other New Jersey moms, I shared what it’s really like to raise a business and babies simultaneously — the challenges and the oh so sweet rewards of the mompreneur life.

Today, I’m sharing a bit of my interview with all of you!

Tell us about your business: I am a professional photographer who helps women entrepreneurs create a powerful visual brand and grow their businesses faster. I am passionate about empowering women to finally be the face of their brand and stand out as leaders.

What inspired the idea? Ten years ago, I started taking photos of my sons to share their stories with far away family. Soon after, this hobby turned into a family portrait business. Over the years, my brand evolved to specialize in brand photography for women in business. Today, I love working with women and helping them share their story with confidence.

How do you differentiate yourself and your business? I use a combination of strategy, storytelling and photography to help my clients stand out. Their branding photos are much more than just pretty pictures. They are photo stories with substance and depth.

What's the hardest part about juggling raising kids with being your own boss? Managing the home, hubby, kids, clients and a business is crazy chaotic! Not only that, when you work from home, the delineation between business and family is super blurred. You can find yourself pulled in all sorts of directions.

What's your best piece of advice for other parents looking to start their own business? Find your tribe. Your mompreneur lifestyle will not be understood by everyone, so look for like-minded moms who share your passion and drive for business and family.

Create a network of support so you can not only keep your sanity but grow your business as well.

Want to continue this mompreneur conversation? Here’s your chance!
