Lady Boss Book Club 2016 Recap | NJ Business Mentor
Last year at this time, I set a goal for myself to read more business books. I was feeling tired with social media and my endless computer time. I wanted to learn more about running a business. I wanted to slow down and carve out some quiet time for myself. I knew if I wanted to commit to this new goal, I needed to create something to hold me accountable.
Enter the Lady Boss Book Club! I was already in a fiction book club and loved the community and accountability aspects. When others are counting on you to read and discuss, then you do the work. And if I took a step further to be the creator and leader of the business book club, then I would indeed have to commit to reading more business books.
I am thrilled to say almost one year later, we have a small but mighty group of women who come every 6 weeks to our book discussion. We share our insights, our takeaways, our questions, our challenges and our ideas on how to apply the content to our businesses. It's like a business book club plus mastermind all in one.
So far our group has read seven good books covering topics of marketing, branding, personal development and goal setting. We have a great time together. And it's becoming so much more then just reading, we are building a community of women business owners who are supporting and inspiring each other.
Thank you to Words Bookstore in Maplewood, NJ who allow us to meet in their cozy basement. They are the best book store in our local area! Please shop local and support them.
