With 12 years of content creation and three years of influencer marketing under her belt, Betty Galvan knew how to spot a business that was struggling with social media. These businesses anxiously hesitated to post because they simply didn’t know what to say. They struggled to tell their story in a way that would resonate with their target audience.

Betty recognized the need small businesses had for support from someone with social savvy. Her response? She launched My Friend Betty Says, a digital marketing studio to take the social media load off her clients’ shoulders. Her goal was to boost their following, increase engagement, and get their stories out there so they could become a recognizable force in their industry.

Betty came to MikiFoto + Co because she was ready to up-level her business and needed a fresh set of images for her website, newsletter, as well as her own social media channels. It was time her visual brand reflected her social, creative, fun, and innovative side.

Who is your ideal client? What problem do you solve for them?

I work with small business owners and specialize in the real estate industry. These entrepreneurs struggle with creativity and just don’t have the time it takes to do social media effectively. I swoop in and solve both these issues for them, making them feel relieved and at ease with their social media.

How do you work with your clients? Describe your process.

I offer my clients both digital strategy sessions to form a content plan + social media management to implement that plan.

After a 20-min discovery call, I create a customized 7-8 page proposal that includes samples of content creation, strategy, value, package recommendations, etc. I evaluate their current content and make sure they are properly using the correct social media channels and pinpoint areas that could be improved. In addition to covering all social media platforms, we can also handle our client’s email newsletters and blog posts.

What do you do for your clients that they don’t expect? How do you make your clients feel special?

I offer personal, one-to-one content creation because I'm local.

I show up to their events which is an added value that many in my industry don’t provide. When they realize they are too busy the day of the event to even think about social media, they are thrilled to discover that I captured everything. (I even send them pics for their emails and newsletters!)

What values and core beliefs are important to you in your business? What do you stand for?

Education, success, abundance, consistency, and respect.

What kind of movement are you starting with your business?

I hope to instill a respect for social media into my clients. While it’s not the ONLY way to sell, it is a vital part of a business’s marketing strategy. I want to abolish the attitude that social media is a "waste of time." Instead, I want to educate my clients that it is worth the time investment.

What do you love to do most in your business? What part lights you up?

When people leave comments on my client's post, and when people share the posts! I love seeing a rise in engagement, likes and followers.

Where do you find inspiration?

In everyday life — from my boss friends, in reading and with nature.

What do you love to do outside of work?

I love to travel (especially to small, local towns!). I love to read, work out, and enjoy dinner and laughs with friends.

5 interesting things about me are:

I had my first baby in Tokyo.

My teaching skills enable me to speak clearly to prospects.

I married by high school sweetheart. We have 3 boys, so I only watch sports on tv.

I'm a news junkie. I have to know what everyone is talking about (it helps when you manage social media for several different industries!).

There isn't a fitness trend I haven't tried.

What are three words others often use to describe you?

Friendly, generous, hard-working.

What is your brand/business style? How do you make your customers feel?

I’m very relaxed, and I want working with me to feel like an easy process for my clients.
