Congenital Heart Defect Awareness Walk | New Jersey Photographer

What a wonderful day to honor the young heart heroes and their families! The CHD coalition did an amazing job organizing their annual walk at Ridgewood Duck Park in Ridgewood, NJ. Food, games, music...but most of all a moment to celebrate the children who brave heart disease and the angels who did not make it. I was thrilled to be invited to help photograph the event. Last year, I worked with the American Heart Association to create a photo story called "words from the heart". These CHD warriors and their families really touched me - they were were so full of courage and hope. It was wonderful to see the kids again running around happy and healthy.

If you know someone in the NJ or tri-state area that has a baby or child with a congenital heart defect, please direct them to the CHD Coalition. Their goal is to improve the quality of life for all affected by congenital heart defects (CHDs) by uniting and supporting the CHD community, funding research, and raising public awareness. It is a scary time when you find out your child has a heart problem, but there is a group out there who can help and support you.

Here are some photos from the day....

Have a great day, Mallika
