For many photographers, the winter months are slow and a time to reflect and plan for the upcoming year. It is a welcome break from the previous busy holiday season. I use this time to read and read a lot. I order my books online to be delivered to my local library and always look forward to the email that says they have arrived. My problem is that I reserve way too many books and can never read all of them in time of their due date. But my intentions are always good and I get excited when I see titles that inspire me.
There is nothing better then to curl up with a good book and just escape for a while. Fiction has always been my genre of choice and I just joined a book club for the first time. But this year, I have challenged myself to read not only one fiction book but also one non-fiction book every two months (every month was not a realistic goal for me). It could be on business or health or lifestyle. There is so much great stuff out there that can help you improve and grow your business and life.
Right now, I am reading Where'd You Go, Bernadette by Maria Semple and In My Shoes: A Memoir by Tamara Mellon. I just finished the memoir and was intrigued with the story about the launch of the Jimmy Choo brand. As an entrepreneur and Sex in the City addict, I was entertained with the juicy details of how this famous shoe brand came into success.
Also on my nightstand are the following titles:
House Girl by Tara Conklin - Fiction
The Storyteller by Jodi Picoult - Fiction
To Sell is Human by Daniel H. Pink - Business
Reality Check by Guy Kawasaki - Business
How Children Succeed by Paul Tough - Parenting
Write it Down, Make it Happen, Knowing What you Want & Getting It by Henriette Anne Klauser - Business/Life
What do you think of my picks? Have you read something recently that you love? Please share so I can pile more books on my existing stack :) Happy reading!
